Tanauan City reports day's highest heat index at 50°C
The highest heat index on Friday was recorded at PAGASA's synoptic station in Ambulong, Tanauan City at 50°C.
According to PAGASA, this was followed by heat indexes recorded at the stations in Aparri, Cagayan and Sangley Point, Cavite City which both recorded 48°C, the Science City of Muñoz with 46°C, and Legazpi City with 45°C.
The heat index, the temperature felt by an individual, measures "human discomfort" and is computed by factoring in the humidity as well as the air temperature.
Due to this, PAGASA warned of possible heat cramps and heat exhaustion, which may lead to heat stroke amid continued physical activity.
