Butchoy brings heavy rains over NCR, Central Luzon


Tropical Depression Butchoy is expected to bring moderate to heavy with, at times, intense rains over Metro Manila, CALABARZON, Zambales, Bataan, Bulacan, Pampanga, the northern portion of Palawan, and Occidental Mindoro between Thursday night and Friday noon, according to PAGASA.

In its 11 p.m. severe weather bulletin, the weather agency said that Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal (TCWS) no. 1 has been removed over some municipalities in Quezon.

However, TCWS no. 1 remains raised over the following areas:

  • Pangasinan
  • Zambales
  • Bataan
  • Tarlac
  • Pampanga
  • Nueva Ecija
  • Bulacan
  • The southern portion of Aurora (Dingalan, San Luis)
  • Metro Manila
  • Rizal
  • Laguna
  • Cavite
  • The northern portion of Quezon (General Nakar, Infanta, Real, Panukulan, Burdeos, Polillo, Patnanungan, Jomalig)

At 10 p.m. on Thursday, the center of Butchoy was estimated in the vicinity of Baliuag, Bulacan with maximum sustained winds of 45 kilometers per hour and gustiness of up to 75 kph.

Butchoy is moving west northwest at 25 kph towards the Pampanga-Tarlac area. It previously made landfall in Polillo, Quezon at 5:30 p.m. and Infanta, Quezon at 6 p.m.

The next severe weather bulletin will be issued at 2 a.m. on Friday.

Heavy rainfall outlook

Butchoy is also expected to bring light to moderate with, at times, heavy rains over Visayas, Caraga, Davao Region, and the rest of Luzon between Thursday night and Friday evening.

Between Friday noon and evening, it is forecast to bring moderate to heavy rains over Zambales, Bataan, Pangasinan, Mindoro Provinces, and northern portion of Palawan including Calamian and Cuyo Islands.

Light to moderate with, at times, heavy rains may also prevail over Metro Manila, CALABARZON, Panay Island, and the rest of MIMAROPA, Ilocos Region, and Central Luzon.

Meanwhile, PAGASA advised small seacrafts to refrain from sea voyage due to moderate to rough seas over the seaboards of Luzon and Visayas.

 

 

PAGASA has also raised a yellow rainfall warning over Tarlac, Nueva Ecija, Zambales, and Bataan.

In its 11 p.m. advisory, the weather agency said warned affected residents of possible flooding in low-lying areas and near rivers. -NB, GMA News
