LPA off Cagayan has strengthened into Tropical Depression Dindo
The low pressure area east of Cagayan has developed into Tropical Depression Dindo, the weather bureau PAGASA said on Friday night.
According to its severe weather bulletin, the center of the tropical depression was estimated based on all available data at 825 km east of Tuguegarao City at 10 p.m.
It is moving west northwestward at 10 kph.
Dindo still has no direct impact on the country, according to the bulletin issued at 11 p.m. and no tropical cyclone wind signal is in effect over the country.
The Southwest Monsoon enhanced by another tropical depression outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility will bring occasional monsoon rains--light to moderate with at times heavy--over Luzon, Western Visayas, and Zamboanga Peninsula.
Flooding and rain-induced landslide may occur during heavy or prolonged rainfall especially in areas that are highly or very highly susceptible to these hazards, PAGASA said.
The public and local disaster risk reduction and management offices concerned are advised to monitor the Rainfall/Thunderstorm Advisories and Heavy Rainfall Warnings from PAGASA Regional Services Divisions and take appropriate measures.
Gale warning
A gale warning is in effect over the northern and western seaboards of Luzon. Sea travel is risky over these areas due to rough to very rough seas of as high as 2.5 to 4.5 meters.
Those with small seacrafts are advised to take precautionary measures while venturing out over the other seaboards of the country due to moderate to rough seas.
At 8:00 p.m. today, the tropical depression outside the PAR was estimated based on all available data at 920 kilometers west of Northern Luzon. It has maximum sustained winds of 55 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 70 kph.
It is currently moving west northwestward at 10 kph. -NB, GMA News
