Habagat to bring rains over Luzon as Dindo moves northwest to exit PAR

The southwest monsoon (habagat) will bring rains over parts of Luzon on Monday as Severe Tropical Storm Dindo (international name: Hagupit) moves northwest to exit the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR), according to PAGASA.

Batanes and the Babuyan Group of Islands will have occasional rains due to the monsoon, with the possibility of flash floods or landslides.

Ilocos Region, Cordillera Administrative Region, Central Luzon and the rest of Cagayan Valley will have cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms due to the southwest monsoon. Flash floods or landslides may also occur during severe thunderstorms.

Meanwhile, the trough of a low pressure area (LPA) located 570 km east southeast of Davao City will cause cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms over Caraga and Davao Region.

The rest of the country will have partly cloudy to at times cloudy skies with rain showers due to localized thunderstorms. Flash floods or landslides may occur during severe thunderstorms.

At 4 a.m., Dindo was located 475 km north northeast of Basco, Batanes. It has maximum sustained winds of 95 km/h near the center and gustiness of up to 115 km/h. Dindo is moving northwestward at 15 km/h.

At 5 a.m., Dindo was over the Yaeyama Islands in the southern Ryukyus moving toward the East China Sea. It is expected to exit PAR on Monday morning. Dindo may possibly make landfall over Zhejiang Province in China on Tuesday morning.

A gale warning has been raised as coastal waters will be rough to very rough over the northern and western sections of Northern Luzon and the western section of Central Luzon. Waves may reach as tall as 4.5 meters.

For the rest of Luzon, coastal waters will be moderate to rough, and slight to moderate for Visayas and Mindanao.
