LPA now a tropical depression named Enteng, will bring rains over Bicol, Eastern Visayas
The low-pressure area located east of Aurora has intensified into a tropical depression at 2 a.m. on Saturday and was named Enteng, PAGASA said in its 5 a.m. severe weather bulletin.
The Bicol Region and Eastern Visayas will have scattered light to moderate and at times heavy rains due to Enteng.
The tropical depression is also enhancing the southwest monsoon (habagat).
The monsoon will bring rains over Zambales, Bataan, Mindoro Provinces, Romblon, and Northern Palawan (including Calamian, Cuyo, and Kalayaan Islands) and occasional rains over Pangasinan, the rest of Central Luzon, Metro Manila, CALABARZON, the rest of MIMAROPA, and the rest of Visayas.
Mindanao and rest of Luzon meanwhile will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers due to the southwest monsoon and localized thunderstorms.
PAGASA said as of 4 a.m., the center of Enteng was estimated at 510 kilometers east of Baler, Aurora (or 445 km east of Casiguran, Aurora). It has maximum sustained winds of 45 kilometers per hour near center and gustiness of up to 55 km/h. Enteng is moving north at 10km/h.
Enteng will remain at sea far from the Philippine landmass and is expected to move near or over Ryukyu Islands in Japan. It is expected to intensify into a tropical storm on Sunday morning before exiting the Philippine Area of Responsibility on Sunday afternoon.
Coastal waters will be moderate to rough in Central and Southern Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao, and slight to moderate in Northern Luzon.
The sun rose at 5:41 a.m. and will set at 6:22 p.m. —BAP/KG, GMA News
