Southwest monsoon to bring rains over western section of the country
The southwest monsoon will be affecting the western section of the country, while the trough of a low pressure area will affect the rest of Visayas and Mindanao, according to PAGASA on Tuesday afternoon.
In its 24-hour forecast, the weather agency said the southwest monsoon is expected to bring cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms over the Ilocos Region, MIMAROPA, Western Visayas, Zamboanga Peninsula, Zambales and Bataan.
The trough of the LPA, meanwhile, may bring cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms over Northern Mindanao, Caraga, Davao Region and the rest of Visayas.
PAGASA advised affected residents to prepare for possible flash floods or landslides due to moderate with at times heavy rains.
Metro Manila and the rest of the country, on the other hand, will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers due to localized thunderstorms.
Flash floods or landslides during severe thunderstorms are also possible, PAGASA warned.
Moreover, moderate winds and moderate coastal water conditions will prevail in extreme Northern Luzon, while light to moderate winds and slight to moderate waters should be expected in the rest of Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao.
The PAGASA synoptic station at the Science Garden in Quezon City also reported a minimum temperature of 25°C at 6 am. and a maximum temperature of 31.6°C at 1:50 p.m.
The sun will set at 6:17 p.m., it added. —LDF, GMA News
