Southwest Monsoon to bring cloudy skies, rainshowers over Philippines

The Southwest Monsoon or Habagat is expected to cast cloudy skies and rainshowers across the Philippines within the next 24 hours, PAGASA said on Sunday afternoon.

In its daily forecast, the state weather bureau said the Southwest Monsoon is currently affecting Northern and Central Luzon.

PAGASA said cloudy skies with scattered rainshowers and thunderstorms should be expected over Batanes, Babuyan Islands, and Ilocos provinces.

Over Metro Manila and the rest of the country, the Habagat and localized thunderstorms will cause partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers.

PAGASA advised the public to prepare for possible flash floods or landslides due to rains or thunderstorms.

Meanwhile, Severe Tropical Storm Igme, with the international name Bavi, was last seen 730 kilometers north northeast of extreme Northern Luzon.

The cyclone exited the Philippine Area of Responsibility on Saturday night. — Julia Mari Ornedo/BM, GMA News
