Habagat to bring scattered rains over Batanes, Babuyan, Ilocos
The Southwest Monsoon (Habagat) is affecting Northern and Central Luzon on Monday, and will bring cloudy skies, scattered rain showers and thunderstorms over Batanes, Babuyan Islands and Ilocos Region, PAGASA said in its early morning forecast.
Metro Manila and the rest of the country meanwhile will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers due to the monsoon and localized thunderstorms.
Flash floods or landslides may occur during moderate or heavy rainfall or severe thunderstorms.
PAGASA weather specialist Aldczar Aurelio said Severe Tropical Storm Bavi which was called Igme when it was still within the Philippine Area of Responsibility is drawing the Southwest Monsoon toward Northern and Central Luzon.
At 3 a.m. on Monday, Bavi was located 825 km north northeast of Extreme Northern Luzon. It has maximum sustained winds of 110 kph and gustiness of up to 135 kph. Bavi is moving east northeast at 10 kph.
Meanwhile, a gale warning was raised over the northern and western sections of Northern Luzon. Coastal waters will be moderate to rough in these areas, with waves reaching as high as 4 meters.
Coastal waters will be moderate in the rest of Luzon, and slight to moderate in the rest of the country.
