Habagat to bring scattered rains, thunderstorms over Ilocos provinces, Batanes, Babuyan Islands

A Low Pressure Area (LPA) was estimated early Wednesday morning at 915 kilometers east of Guiuan, Eastern Samar but this will have no effect on any part of the country while the effects of the southwest monsoon will be felt in northern and central Luzon, PAGASA reported.

The effects of the southwest monsoon or Habagat is enhanced by a weather system located outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR).

The weather bureau has also issued its final report on the active Tropical Cyclone outside the PAR, Typhoon Bavi (formerly Igme), which was located 1,250 kilometers north northeast of extreme northern Luzon  packing maximum sustained winds of 150 kilometers per hour with gustiness up to 185 kph moving in the north northwest at 15 kph.

Ilocos provinces, Batanes, and Babuyan Islands will have cloudy skies with scattered rainshowers and thunderstorms brought about by the southwest monsoon. The weather bureau warned that flash floods or landslides may occur due to moderate with at times heavy rains.

Metro Manila and the rest of the country will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers due to the southwest monsoon and localized thunderstorms while flash floods or landslides may occur during severe thunderstorms.

The wind speed for the northern and western sections of Northern Luzon is moderate to strong moving southwestward while coastal waters will be moderate to rough.

The wind speed for the rest of the country is light to moderate moving in the south to southwest direction while coastal waters will remain slight to moderate.

The sun will rise by 5:44 a.m. and set at 6:12 p.m. -- BAP, GMA News
