Cloudy skies, isolated rains over most parts of the country due to the southwest monsoon


The southwest monsoon will be affecting northern Luzon on Thursday, PAGASA reported in its early morning forecast.

Metro Manila and the rest of the country will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers due to the southwest monsoon and localized thunderstorms with the possibility of the occurrence of flash floods or landslides during severe thunderstorms.

The weather bureau continues to monitor two weather systems outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR).

Typhoon Maysak (formerly Julia), was estimated as of 3 a.m. at 1,875 kilometers north northeast of extreme northern Luzon with maximum sustained winds of 140 kilometers per hour and gustiness of up to 195 kph and moving north northeastward at 45 kph.

Typhoon Haishen, meanwhile, is located 1,800 kilometers east of extreme northern Luzon with maximum sustained winds of 120 kph and gustiness of up to 120 kph and moving west northwestward at 20 kph.

The wind speed forecast for extreme northern Luzon is moderate to strong and moving southwestward while coastal waters are moderate to rough.

In the Visayas and the rest of Luzon, wind speed forecast is light to moderate moving in the southeast to southwest direction while coastal waters will be slight to moderate.

Wind speed in Mindanao will be light to moderate moving in the east to southeast direction while coastal waters will remain slight to moderate.
