2 LPAs, monsoon to bring rains over Visayas, 7 other areas

Two Low Pressure Areas and the Southwest Monsoon will bring scattered rains over Visayas and seven other areas on Monday, PAGASA said in its early morning forecast.

Cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms are to be expected over Visayas, MIMAROPA, the Bicol Region, Zamboanga Peninsula, Northern Mindanao, BARMM, SOCCSKSARGEN and Quezon due to the monsoon and the LPA.

Flash floods or landslides may occur during severe thunderstorms.

The Ilocos Region, Cordillera Administrative Region, and Cagayan Valley will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light rains due to the northeasterly surface wind flow.

Meanwhile, Metro Manila and the rest of the country will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers due to localized thunderstorms and the monsoon. Flash floods or landslides may occur during times of severe thunderstorms.

The two LPAs were located at 3 a.m. at the following estimated areas:

  • 360 km east northeast of Virac, Catanduanes
  • 425 km west of Sangley Point, Cavite City

Meanwhile, PAGASA is also monitoring a tropical depression outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility.

At 3 a.m., the tropical depression, which is almost stationary, was located at 1,790 km east of Extreme Northern Luzon.

It has maximum winds of 55 km/h near the center and gustiness of up to 70 km/h.

Coastal waters will be moderate to rough in Northern Luzon, with waves reaching as tall as 4 meters.

Meanwhile, coastal waters will be slight to moderate in the rest of the country.

Sunrise will be at 5:46 a.m. while sunset will be at 5:43 p.m. —KG, GMA News
