LPA, Habagat to bring rains, thunderstorms over Metro Manila, 12 areas
A low pressure area (LPA) and the southwest monsoon are expected to bring cloudy skies with scattered rainshowers and thunderstorms over Metro Manila and 12 other areas, PAGASA announced Wednesday.
In its 24-hour forecast, the weather agency said other areas affected are the Ilocos Region, Cordillera Administrative Region, Central Luzon, CALABARZON, MIMAROPA, Bicol Region, Visayas, Mindanao, Cagayan, Isabela, Nueva Vizcaya and Quirino.
PAGASA warned affected residents of possible flash floods or landslides due to scattered light to moderate to, at times, heavy rains.
At 3 p.m. on Wednesday, the LPA was estimated at 90 kilometers east of Daet, Camarines Norte.
The northeasterly surface windflow may, meanwhile, bring cloudy skies with isolated light rains over Batanes and the Babuyan Group of Islands.
It has no significant impact on the country, according to PAGASA.
Meanwhile, Typhoon Chan-Hom was spotted outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility at 1,440 kilometers northeast of extreme northern Luzon with maximum sustained winds of 120 kilometers per hour near the center and gustiness of up to 150 kph.
It is moving northwestward at 25 kph.
The PAGASA synoptic station at the Science Garden, Quezon City recorded a minimum temperature of 24.2°C at 6 a.m. and a maximum temperature of 31.6°C at 1:50 p.m.

PAGASA also warned that moderate to heavy rainshowers with lightning and strong winds are expected over Metro Manila, Zambales, Bataan and Quezon within the next two hours.
According to its 4:23 p.m. advisory, the same conditions are currently being experienced in Nueva Ecija, Bulacan, Rizal, Tarlac, and Pampanga, which may persist within two hours and affect nearby areas.
Specific areas affected are Cabiao, San Isidro, Gapan, San Antonio, Penaraanda, Bustos, Angat, Norzagaray, and Rodriguez.
The weather agency advised residents to take precautionary measures against flash floods and landslides as well as to keep monitoring for updates.—Joahna Lei Casilao/LDF, GMA News
