LPA, monsoon to bring rains over Metro Manila, 9 other areas
A low pressure area (LPA) and the Southwest Monsoon (Habagat) will bring scattered rains over Metro Manila and nine other areas on Saturday, PAGASA said in its early morning forecast.
The affected areas—Metro Manila, Cagayan Valley, Central Luzon, CALABARZON, MIMAROPA, Bicol Region, Visayas, Zamboanga Peninsula, Northern Mindanao, and Caraga—will have cloudy skies, scattered rain showers and thunderstorms. Flash floods or landslides may occur during times of moderate or heavy rains.
The rest of Mindanao will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers due to localized thunderstorms. Flash floods or landslides may also occur during severe thunderstorms.
Meanwhile, the Ilocos Region and Cordillera Administrative Region will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolate light rains due to the northeasterly surface windflow.
At 3 a.m. Saturday, the LPA was located 370 km east of Infanta, Quezon.
The Southwest Monsoon meanwhile is affecting Southern Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao.
PAGASA is also monitoring Severe Tropical Storm Chan-Hom which was located, at 3 a.m. Saturday, 1,785 km northeast of Extreme Northern Luzon. Chan-Hom has maximum sustained winds of 95 km/h near the center and gustiness of up to 115 km/h. It is moving east northeastward at 15 km/h.
Coastal waters will be rough (up to 4.5 meters) in Northern Luzon, and moderate to rough in the rest of Luzon.
