Habagat to bring cloudy skies, rains over Philippines


The Southwest Monsoon or Habagat is expected to bring cloudy skies and rains across the country within the next 24 hours, PAGASA said Sunday afternoon.

In its 4 p.m. forecast, the state weather bureau said monsoon rains will prevail over Metro Manila, Pangasinan, Zambales, Bataan, Pampanga, Bulacan, Cavite, Batangas, Occidental Mindoro, and Palawan.

Cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms are expected over the rest of the country.

Meanwhile, PAGASA said one of the two low-pressure areas (LPAs) it is monitoring was last seen 190 kilometers west-southwest of Sinait, Ilocos Sur.

The other LPA was last located 735 kilometers east of Hinatuan, Surigao del Sur.

PAGASA also said there are two active tropical cyclones outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility.

Tropical Storm Chan-Hom was last seen 2,310 kilometers northeast of extreme Northern Luzon moving east-southeastward at 10 kilometers per hour (kph) with winds of 75 kph and gustiness of up to 90 kph.

Tropical Storm Linfa was located 1,230 kilometers west of Central Luzon moving westward at 20kph with maximum sustained winds of 65 kph and gustiness of up to 90 kph. —LBG, GMA News
