Rains, thunderstorms over Bicol, 8 other areas due to Rolly's trough

Cloudy skies with scattered rainshowers and thunderstorms are expected to prevail over the Visayas, the Bicol Region, MIMAROPA, the Zamboanga Peninsula, Northern Mindanao, Caraga, Basilan, Sulu, and Tawi-Tawi due to the trough of typhoon Rolly, according to PAGASA on Friday.

In its 24-hour forecast, the weather agency warned affected residents of possible flash floods or landslides during moderate to heavy rains.

At 3 p.m. on Friday, the eye of Rolly was estimated at 990 kilometers east of Casiguran, Aurora with maximum sustained winds of 185 kilometers per hour near the center and gustiness of up to 230 kph.

It is moving westward at 20 kph.

A severe weather bulletin on Rolly is set to be issued at 5 p.m.

Meanwhile, the northeasterly surface windflow may bring cloudy skies with scattered rains and isolated thunderstorms over the Ilocos Region, the Cordillera Administrative Region, and Cagayan Valley.

PAGASA said severe thunderstorms may cause flash floods or landslides.

Metro Manila and the rest of the country may, meanwhile, experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers due to localized thunderstorms.

Flash floods and landslides are also possible.
