Rains, thunderstorms to prevail over Cagayan, 4 other areas

The tail-end of a frontal system is expected to bring cloudy skies with scattered rainshowers and thunderstorms over Cagayan, including the Babuyan Islands, Isabela, Kalinga, and Apayao, according to PAGASA on Tuesday.

In its 24-hour forecast, the weather agency warned affected residents of possible flash floods or landslides during moderate to heavy rains.

Easterlies or warm winds from the Pacific Ocean and a tropical depression, formerly Vicky, will also bring cloudy skies with scattered rainshowers and thunderstorms over Aurora, Quezon, and Kalayaan Islands.

PAGASA said flash floods and landslides are also possible.

At 3 p.m. on Tuesday, the center of the tropical depression was estimated outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility at 550 kilometers southwest of Pag-Asa Island with maximum sustained winds of 45 kilometers per hour near the center and gustiness of up to 55 kph.

Meanwhile, the northeast monsoon may bring cloudy skies with light rains over Batanes and partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light rains over the Ilocos Region, the rest of the Cordillera Administrative Region and the Cagayan Valley.

The weather agency said it has no significant impact on the affected areas.

Metro Manila and the rest of the country may, meanwhile, experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms due to the Easterlies.

PAGASA warned of possible flash floods or landslides during severe thunderstorms.

Meanwhile, the synoptic station at the Science Garden, Quezon City recorded a minimum temperature of 23.8°C at 5 a.m. and a maximum temperature of 31.4°C at 1:50 p.m.—Joahna Lei Casilao/LDF, GMA News
