ITCZ, Amihan to bring cloudy skies, rains over Philippines

An Intertropical Convergence Zone (ITCZ) and the northeast monsoon or amihan will bring cloudy skies and rains over the Philippines within the next 24 hours, PAGASA said Tuesday afternoon.

In its 4 p.m. bulletin, the state weather bureau said the ITCZ was affecting Mindanao while amihan was affecting Northern and Central Luzon.

Cloudy skies with scattered rainshowers and thunderstorms were forecast over Caraga and Davao Region.

Residents were told to prepare for possible flash floods or landslides due to moderate to heavy rains.

Meanwhile, amihan will bring cloudy skies with light rains over Cagayan Valley, Cordillera Administrative Region, Aurora, and Northern Quezon, as well as partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light rains in Metro Manila, Ilocos Region, rest of Central Luzon, and the rest of CALABARZON.

No significant impact is expected in these areas.

PAGASA also said partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers would prevail over the rest of the country due to localized thunderstorms, adding that flash floods or landslides during severe thunderstorms were possible.—Julia Mari Ornedo/LDF, GMA News
