Heat index hits 47°C in Dagupan City
Dagupan City in Pangasinan on Thursday recorded the day’s hottest heat index, the human-perceived temperature at 47°C, according to PAGASA.
The weather bureau said this was followed by Sangley Point in Cavite with 46°C, while Clark Airport in Pampanga recorded 44°C.
Ambulong in Batangas, Aparri in Cagayan, Iba in Zambales, and Tuguegarao all recorded 43°C, while Casiguran in Aurora, Laoag City, Masbate City, Pasay City, Quezon City, and Sinait in Ilocos Sur had 42°C.
Further, Cupi Point in Subic and Davao City both recorded 41°C.
PAGASA warned that a heat index ranging from 41°C to 54°C may lead to heat cramps and exhaustion.
Heat stroke is also possible amid continuous physical activity, it added.
PAGASA advised the public to stay indoors as much as possible, wear lightweight and light colored clothing, and drink plenty of water regularly.—Ma. Angelica Garcia/LDF, GMA News
