Light to heavy rain expected over central, eastern Mindanao due to Dante –PAGASA

Tropical Depression Dante's outer rainbands would bring light to moderate with at times heavy rain over the Caraga, Davao, and SOCCSKSARGEN Regions; Bukidnon; and Misamis Oriental, weather service PAGASA reported in a Sunday night bulletin.

These inclement conditions may cause isolated to scattered flooding, including flash floods, and rain-induced landslides, especially in areas that are highly or very highly susceptible to these hazards.

Adjacent or nearby areas may also experience flooding due to surface runoff or river channel swelling.

At 10 p.m., Dante was 685 kilometers east of Davao City with 55 kilometers per hour center winds that can gust up to 70 kph.

However, Dante was forecast to strengthen into a tropical storm within the next 12 to 24 hours.

Meanwhile, Dante was moving west-northwest at 15 kph and would continue moving generally northwestward for the next three days.

By Thursday it will likely turn generally north-northwestward, then turn northeastward on Friday.

PAGASA believed it unlikely that a Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal (TCWS) would be hoisted over any land area in the country.

Nevertheless, given the uncertainty in its track forecast, any further westward shift in Dante's movement may lead to the hoisting of a TCWS over the eastern portion of the country. — DVM, GMA News
