Lannie now over Sulu Sea, heading towards Cuyo, Palawan
Tropical Depression Lannie is now over the Sulu Sea and is heading towards the vicinity of Cuyo archipelago, PAGASA said Monday.
In its 11 p.m. severe weather bulletin, the state weather bureau said the center of Lannie was located 120 kilometers south-southeast of Cuyo, Palawan at 10 p.m. with maximum sustained winds of 45 km per hour near the center, gustiness of up to 55 kph, and central pressure of 1004 hPa. It is moving westward at 35 kph.
PAGASA said Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal No. 1 is still up over the following areas:

From Monday night to Tuesday morning, PAGASA said, moderate to heavy rains will prevail over Western Visayas, Caraga, and MIMAROPA, while light to moderate with, at times, heavy rains are also possible over CALABARZON, Bicol Region, and the rest of Visayas and Mindanao.
Under these conditions, isolated to scattered flooding and rain-induced landslides are likely, especially in areas that are highly susceptible to these hazards, the weather bureau said.
Meanwhile, strong winds with occasional gusts will be experienced in areas under TCWS No. 1, which may cause up to very light damage to structures and vegetation.
PAGASA added that an enhanced easterly flow north of Lannie may also bring occasionally gusts reaching strong breeze to near gale in strength over extreme Northern Luzon and the coastal and upland/mountainous areas of the eastern section of Northern and Central Luzon, CALABARZON, MIMAROPA, and Bicol Region in the next 24 hours.
Further, in the next 24 hours, Lannie will also bring moderate to rough seas over the coastal waters of the country, especially in areas under TCWS No. 1.
"These conditions are risky for those using small sea crafts. Mariners are advised to take precautionary measures when venturing out to sea and, if possible, avoid navigating in these conditions," PAGASA warned.
PAGASA said Lannie is forecasted to turn more northwestward in the next 12 hours and may make landfall in the vicinity of northern mainland Palawan or Calamian Islands on Tuesday morning before emerging over the West Philippine Sea.
A close approach or landfall in the vicinity of the Cuyo archipelago is also possible within the next six hours. — Ma. Angelica Garcia/BM, GMA News
