PAGASA: Shear line, Amihan to bring rains over parts of Luzon, Mindanao


The shear line or tail-end of frontal system will be affecting the northeastern portions of Mindanao, while Northeast Monsoon or Amihan will affect Luzon, the weather bureau PAGASA said on Friday.

Based on PAGASA's 4 p.m. weather forecast, Bicol Region, Caraga, Northern Mindanao, Zamboanga Peninsula, Eastern and Central Visayas will have cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms brought by the shear line with possible flooding or landslides during moderate to heavy with at times intense rains.

Cagayan Valley, Apayao, Kalinga, Ifugao, Mt. Province, Aurora and Quezon will experience cloudy skies with light rains caused by the Northeast Monsoon.

Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light rains.

Meanwhile, the rest of the country will experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms with possible flash floods or landslides during severe thunderstorms.

The wind speed forecast for Luzon, Visayas, and eastern section of Mindanao is moderate to strong while coastal waters will be moderate to rough.

The rest of Mindanao will experience light to moderate wind speed while coastal waters will be slight to moderate.
