Shear line affecting Visayas, Mindanao; Amihan to dampen Luzon
The shear line is affecting Visayas and Mindanao areas while the Northeast Monsoon will bring rains over Luzon, PAGASA said.
The shear line will bring scattered widespread rains and thunderstorms over Central Visayas, Eastern Visayas, Caraga, and Northern Mindanao, according to the state weather bureau's 24-hour forecast issued on Wednesday afternoon.
Southern Quezon, Bicol Region, Marinduque, Romblon, the rest of Visayas, Davao Oriental and Davao De Oro will expect cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms due to the shear line.
Cloudy skies with light rains will be expected over Cagayan Valley, Apayao, Ifugao, Mountain Province, Aurora, and the rest of Quezon due to the Northeast Monsoon or Amihan. However, it will have no significant impact.
Also, the Northeast Monsoon will bring partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms over Metro Manila and the rest of the country.
The wind speed forecast for Luzon, Visayas, and the northern and eastern sections of Mindanao is moderate to strong moving northeast while coastal waters will be moderate to rough.
The rest of Mindanao will experience light to moderate wind speed moving northeast while coastal waters will be slight to moderate. — Consuelo Marquez/VBL, GMA News
