PAGASA officially declares start of dry season

The public should brace for hot days ahead as state weather forecasters on Wednesday announced the formal start of the dry season in the country.

The weather bureau PAGASA said the Northeast Monsoon or Amihan season has ended due to the retreat of the High Pressure Area (HPA) over Siberia.

PAGASA also said the wind pattern generally shifted from northeasterlies to easterlies over most parts of the country due to the advancing HPA over the Northwestern Pacific.

Because of this, PAGASA advised the public to take precautionary measures against heat stress and to optimize their daily use of water.

PAGASA, meanwhile, said the rainfall distribution across the country will be influenced mostly by easterlies and localized thunderstorms. —Richa Noriega/KBK/VBL, GMA News
