PAGASA: Parts of Mindanao to have rains, thunderstorms due to ITCZ, LPA


Parts of Caraga, Davao Region, and SOCCSKSARGEN will experience cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms due to the Intertropical Convergence Zone (ITCZ) and low pressure area (LPA), the weather bureau PAGASA said on Tuesday.

PAGASA said the LPA was located at 245 kilometers East Southeast of General Santos City (5.5°N, 127.3°E) as of 3 p.m. on Tuesday.

Possible flash floods or landslides due to moderate to at times heavy rains may possibly occur, the weather bureau said.

According to its 4 p.m. weather forecast, Batanes and Babuyan Islands will have cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms due to a frontal system with possible flash floods or landslides due to moderate to at times heavy rains.

Metro Manila and the rest of the country will experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms with possible flash floods or landslides during severe thunderstorms.

Meanwhile, the wind speed forecast for extreme Northern Luzon will be moderate to strong while coastal water conditions will be moderate to rough.

The rest of the country will have light to moderate wind speed forecast, while coastal water conditions will be slight to moderate.—Richa Noriega/LDF, GMA News
