PAGASA: Cloudy skies with rain showers over Palawan, Mindoro due to Southwest Monsoon
The Habagat or Southwest Monsoon will bring cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms over Palawan, Occidental Mindoro and Oriental Mindoro, PAGASA said Monday.
In its 4 p.m. daily weather bulletin, PAGASA advised affected residents to prepare for possible flash floods or landslides due to moderate to at times heavy rains.
Meanwhile, Metro Manila and the rest of the country will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms due to localized thunderstorms.
Flash floods or landslides are also possible during severe thunderstorms.
The wind speed forecast for western section of Luzon and extreme northern Luzon is moderate, while coastal water conditions will be moderate ranging from 1.2 to 2.1 meters.
The rest of the country will experience light to moderate wind speeds with slight to moderate coastal water conditions ranging from 0.6 to 2.1 meters.
Suspended flight
Flight and ground operations at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) were temporarily suspended after PAGASA issued a red lightning warning Monday afternoon.
The Lightning Red Alert was raised at 2:10 p.m., an advisory from Manila International Airport Authority (MIAA) said.
“The alert is a safety measure taken to prevent untoward incident from happening when lightnings are prevalent in the immediate area and may endanger personnel, passengers and even flight operations,” it said.—Mel Matthew Doctor/LDF, GMA News
