Habagat affecting Palawan, LPA seen off Davao City —PAGASA

The Southwest Monsoon or Habagat will be affecting the western section of Luzon, and a low-pressure area (LPA) was spotted off Davao City, PAGASA said on Sunday.

In its 4 p.m. weather forecast, state weather bureau PAGASA said the LPA was located at 790 kilometers east-southeast of Davao City.

PAGASA said Habagat will bring cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms in Palawan and could cause flash floods or landslides due to moderate to at times heavy rains.

Caraga, Davao Region, and Soccsksargen will experience cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms caused by the LPA.

Flash floods or landslides may occur during moderate to at times heavy rains in those regions.

Meanwhile, Metro Manila and the rest of the country will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms caused by localized thunderstorms.

PAGASA warned of possible flash floods or landslides during severe thunderstorms.

Further, wind speeds in western section of Luzon and Visayas are expected to be moderate with moderate coastal water conditions, ranging from 1.2 to 2.5 meters.

Light to moderate wind speeds will be experienced by the rest of the country with slight to moderate coastal water conditions, ranging from 0.6 to 2.1 meters. —LBG, GMA News
