Bicol region, 4 areas forecasted to have cloudy skies, scattered rains due to LPA, habagat


PAGASA said that as of 3 a.m. Thursday, a Low Pressure Area (LPA) was estimated at 975 kilometers east of Basco, Batanes while the Southwest Monsoon or Habagat will be affecting southern Luzon and the Visayas.

The weather bureau continues to monitor the active tropical cyclone outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR).

As of 3 a.m., the tropical depression is located 1,915 kilometers east of northern Luzon with maximum sustained winds of 55 kilometers per hour, gustiness of up to 70 kph moving in the west northwest direction at a speed of 15 kph.

Bicol Region, Aurora, Quezon, Bataan and Zambales will have cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms due to the southwest monsoon / LPA with possible flash floods or landslides due to moderate to at times heavy rains.

Metro Manila and the rest of the country will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms due to the southwest Monsoon / localized thunderstorms with possible flash floods or landslides during severe thunderstorms.

The wind speed forecast for northern Luzon is light to moderate moving northwestward while coastal waters will be slight to moderate.

The rest of the country will have light to moderate wind speed moving in the south to southwest direction while coastal waters will be slight to moderate.
