Habagat to still affect western section of Luzon

Cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms due to southwest monsoon or Habagat will affect the western section of Luzon in the next 24 hours, state weather bureau PAGASA said Wednesday.

In its 4 p.m. weather bulletin, PAGASA said Ilocos Region, Zambales, Bataan, Occidental Mindoro, and Palawan will be affected.

Residents were advised to prepare for possible flash floods or landslides due to moderate to at times heavy rains.

Metro Manila and the rest of the country will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms.

Meanwhile, severe tropical storm Ma-on (formerly Florita) left the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) and was already 585 kilometers west of Calayan, Cagayan.

It accelerated on its way out of PAR, moving west northwestward at 25 kilometers per hour (km/h), with maximum sustained winds at 110 kilometers per hour (kph) and gustiness of up to 135 kph.

Further, the wind speed forecast for Luzon will be moderate to strong moving in the southwest to south direction while coastal water conditions will be moderate to rough, ranging from 1.2 to 4 meters.

The rest of the country will experience light to moderate wind speed moving in the southeast to south direction with slight to moderate coastal waters, ranging from 0.6 to 2.5 meters.—Mel Matthew Doctor/AOL, GMA News
