Heavy rains, gale-force winds expected in Batanes under Signal No. 2
Signal No. 2 continues to be hoisted over Batanes and Signal No. 1 over the Babuyan Islands and the northeastern portion of mainland Cagayan as Typhoon Henry continued on its path over the Philippine Sea.
According to PAGASA's tropical cyclone bulletin at 11 p.m. on Friday, moderate to heavy rains may be experienced over Batanes and Babuyan Islands beginning Friday to Saturday due to the typhoon.
Light to moderate with at times heavy rains is forecast over the northern and eastern portion of Cagayan, it added.
The prevailing Southwest Monsoon will spur rains over other parts of north Luzon including Isabela, the western portion of Central Luzon, and the rest of the Cordillera Administrative Region in the next 24 hours.
Under the influence of Henry, a Gale Warning is also in effect for the seaboard of Northern Luzon and the eastern seaboard of Central Luzon.
Small seacraft and mariners are advised to take precautionary measures or avoid venturing out as the typhoon is expected to bring moderate to rough seas over the eastern seaboard of Southern Luzon (1.2 to 3.0 m) in the next 24 hours.
The weather bureau said Henry will continue moving slowly northwestward or north-northwestward Friday to Saturday, September 3. It may briefly intensify by Saturday through Sunday, September 4 as it gradually accelerates northward.
The typhoon may exit the Philippine Area of Responsibility Saturday evening or Sunday morning, the agency added. —NB, GMA News
