PAGASA: Parts of Mindanao to experience rains due to ITCZ

Scattered rain showers and thunderstorms may be experienced over the southern region of the country due to the intertropical convergence zone (ITCZ), according to the weather bureau PAGASA on Thursday.

In its 5 p.m. bulletin, PAGASA said the ITCZ will bring cloudy skies with scattered rainshowers and thunderstorms over Northern Mindanao, Zamboanga Peninsula, Davao Region, and the Caraga Region.

Metro Manila and the rest of the country is forecast to have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms also caused by the ITCZ and localized thunderstorms.

Residents living in the affected areas, especially in low-lying places, are warned against the possible flash floods or landslides brought about by the rains.

Light to moderate winds are expected to blow over the archipelago with slight to moderate coastal waters.

Minimum temperature was recorded in the country at 6 a.m. today at 25.2°C while maximum temperature was at 32.2°C at 1 p.m.

Meanwhile, PAGASA is also monitoring an active tropical cyclone outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR).

At 3 p.m. today, the tropical storm was located 1,430 kilometers east of Northern Luzon.

It is moving southwestward at 10 kilometers per hour and has maximum sustained winds of 65kph near the center and gustiness of up to 80kph.

The weather bureau earlier said it is expecting the storm to enter PAR within the day, to be given the local name “Inday." —Sundy Locus/LDF, GMA News
