PAGASA: Batanes, parts of Cagayan, Isabela under Signal No. 1


Batanes and parts of Cagayan and Isabela have been placed under Signal No. 1 as Tropical Depression Neneng slightly intensified while moving west southwestward over the Philippine Sea.

According to its 5 p.m. severe weather bulletin, PAGASA said the center of Neneng was estimated at 795 km East of Calayan, Cagayan (18.7°N, 129.0°E).

The tropical depression had maximum sustained winds of 55 km/h near the center, gustiness of up to 70 km/h, and central pressure of 998 hPa.

Neneng’s present movement was west southwestward at 10 km/h, according to PAGASA.

The following areas were placed under Signal No. 1:

  • Batanes
  • Cagayan including Babuyan Islands, the eastern portion of Apayao (Luna, Santa Marcela, Flora, Pudtol)
  • the northern portion of Isabela (Santa Maria, San Pablo, Maconacon)

PAGASA said light to moderate with at times heavy rains will prevail over Batanes, Cagayan including Babuyan Islands, Apayao, Kalinga, and Ilocos Norte on Saturday morning until afternoon.

Moderate to heavy with at times intense rains will experience in Batanes, Cagayan including Babuyan Islands, Apayao, Abra, Kalinga, Ilocos Norte, and Ilocos Sur on Saturday afternoon through Sunday afternoon.

Meanwhile, light to moderate with at times heavy rains will prevail over Isabela and the rest of Ilocos Region and Cordillera Administrative Region. —NB, GMA News
