Signal No. 2 up over NCR, more areas as Paeng heads toward Albay, Sorsogon
Heavy to intense rains are expected over the Bicol region and Eastern Visayas on Friday night until early Saturday morning due to Tropical Storm Paeng, the weather bureau PAGASA has said.
According to its tropical cyclone bulletin at 8 p.m. on Friday, Signal No. 2 has been raised over 28 areas including provinces in Bicol and the Eastern Visayas, and Metro Manila.
The center of Paeng was estimated at 100 kms east northeast of Catarman, Northern Samar or 165 kms east of Juban, Sorsogon.
It has maximum sustained winds of 85 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 105 kph and is moving west northwest toward the Albay-Sorsogon area.
PAGASA said moderate to heavy with at times intense rains are expected over Quezon, MIMAROPA, Caraga, Zamboanga Peninsula, BARMM, Northern Mindanao, and the rest of Visayas.
Light to moderate with at times heavy rains are seen over over Metro Manila, Bulacan, Pampanga, Cagayan Valley, Aurora, the rest of CALABARZON, and the rest of Mindanao.
Winds may reach gale-force strength during the passage of Paeng in any of the areas where Signal No. 2 is up. Strong winds may be experienced in any of the areas where Signal No. 1 has been raised as Paeng passes.
Per latest track and intensity forecast, the highest wind signal that will likely be hoisted is Signal No. 3 in anticipation of storm-force conditions associated with Paeng.
