Southwest Monsoon to bring rains over several areas

The Southwest Monsoon (Habagat) continues to affect the country on Monday and will bring rains over several areas, PAGASA said in its forecast.

Zambales, Bataan, and Occidental Mindoro will have occasional rains due to the monsoon. Flooding or landslides may possibly occur due to scattered to widespread rains.

Metro Manila, Calabarzon, Ilocos Region, Cordillera Administrative Region, the rest of Mimaropa, the rest of Central Luzon, and Western Visayas may expect cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms also due to the monsoon. Moderate to at times heavy rains may cause flash floods or landslides.

The rest of the country on the other hand will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms caused by the Southwest Monsoon and localized thunderstorms. During severe thunderstorms, flash floods or landslides may result.

Severe Tropical Storm Talim, which was known as Tropical Storm Dodong when it was still inside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR), was located at 3 a.m. at 825 km west of Extreme Northern Luzon.

Talim has maximum sustained winds of 110 km/h near the center, gustiness of up to 135 km/h, and it is moving west northwestward at 15 km/h.

Coastal waters will be moderate to rough in Luzon and the western section of Visayas, and slight to moderate in the rest of the country.

Sunrise was at 5:35 a.m. while sunset will be at 6:29 p.m. —KG, GMA Integrated News
