Shear line, Amihan to bring rains over Luzon, parts of Visayas

A shear line is affecting the eastern areas of Southern Luzon and Visayas, while Luzon is experiencing the effects of the Northeast Monsoon or Amihan.

According to PAGASA's daily weather forecast on Tuesday afternoon, the Bicol Region, Eastern Visayas, Southern Quezon, Marinduque, Romblon, Oriental Mindoro, Aklan, Capiz, and Davao Region are expected to have cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms due to the combined effects of the shear line and easterlies.

The Northeast Monsoon, meanwhile, may bring cloudy skies with light rains over Cagayan Valley, Cordillera Administrative Region, and Aurora. Partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light rains were forecast over Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon also because of the Amihan.

The rest of the country will experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms due to the effects of both the easterlies and localized thunderstorms. Floods or landslides may occur during severe thunderstorms, PAGASA warned.

Meanwhile, Luzon and the eastern sections of Visayas and Mindanao may feel moderate to strong winds with moderate to rough coastal waters, while the rest of the country is forecast to have light to moderate winds with slight to moderate coastal waters.

Sunrise in Metro Manila will be at 6:21 a.m. on Wednesday. — Jiselle Anne Casucian/ VDV, GMA Integrated News
