Shear line to bring cloudy skies, scattered rains over parts of Northern Luzon

The shear line will bring cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms over extreme Northern Luzon, including Batanes, Cagayan, and Isabela on Friday, PAGASA reported.

The weather bureau added that flash floods or landslides may occur in these areas due to moderate to at times heavy rains.

Metro Manila and the rest of the country will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms due to the easterlies with possible flash floods or landslides during severe thunderstorms.

However, the weather bureau said the heat index in Metro Manila will be at danger level with 43 degrees Celsius at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA), Pasay City station and 42 degrees Celsius at the Science Garden in Quezon City.

The public is advised to take precaution against heat cramps, heat exhaustion and heat stroke.

The heat index is a measure of how hot it really feels when factoring in the relative humidity at a given location.

In order to prevent heat-related illnesses, the weather bureau is advising the public to do the following:

  • Limit the time outdoors
  • Drink plenty of water
  • Avoid tea, coffee, soda or liquor
  • Wear umbrellas, hats, sleeved clothing outdoors
  • Schedule heavy-duty activities at start or end of the day when it's cooler

The northern and western sections of Northern Luzon will experience moderate to strong wind speed moving northeastward while coastal waters will be moderate to rough.

The rest of the country will experience light to moderate wind speed moving in the east to northeast direction while coastal waters will be slight to moderate.

Sunrise will be at 5:28 a.m., sunset at 6:17 p.m. — BAP, GMA Integrated News
