PH to have fair weather, isolated rains due to easterlies, thunderstorms

Metro Manila and the rest of the country will have generally fair weather on Sunday with isolated rain showers due to the easterlies and localized thunderstorms, PAGASA said.

"Makararanas pa rin tayo ngayong araw ng mainit at maalinsangang panahon na dala ng easterlies," PAGASA weather specialist Dan Villamil said in an interview on Super Radyo dzBB.

(We will still experience hot and humid weather conditions due to the easterlies.)

"Generally fair weather condition ang mararanasan sa Metro Manila, at malaking bahagi ng bansa, maliban na lamang sa mga tsansa ng biglaan at panandaliang pag-ulan dulot ng thunderstorms," he added.

(Generally fair weather condition will be felt in Metro Manila and other areas, except for chances of isolated rain showers due to thunderstorms.)

The country will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms due to the easterlies affecting the eastern sections of Southern Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao.

During severe thunderstorms, flash floods or landslides may result.

Coastal waters will be moderate in Extreme Northern Luzon, and slight to moderate in the rest of the country.

Sunrise was at 5:26 a.m. while sunset will be at 6:22 p.m.

Villamil said the tropical cyclone outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility that PAGASA was monitoring already made landfall in China.

"'Yung mino-monitor nating bagyo ay nag-landfall na sa China kahapon... Since may interaction na ito sa kalupaan ng mainland China, humina na ito bilang isang LPA," he said.

(The tropical cyclone we were monitoring made landfall in China yesterday. Since it had an interaction with the landmass of mainland China, it weakened and became a low pressure area.)

Villamil said this LPA may merge with the frontal system which may possibly bring rains in Extreme Northern Luzon.

"Posibleng sumama itong LPA sa frontal system... Itong frontal system na ito ay posibleng magdulot ng mga pag-ulan sa bahagi ng extreme Northern Luzon," he said. —KG, GMA Integrated News
