LPA's trough to bring cloudy skies, scattered rains over parts of Luzon

The trough of a Low Pressure Area (LPA) will bring cloudy skies with scattered rains over the eastern sections of Northern and Central Luzon on Wednesday, PAGASA reported.

Isabela, Aurora, Quezon, Camarines Norte, and Camarines Sur will have cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms due to the trough of LPA with flash floods or landslides possibly occurring due to moderate to at times heavy rains.

Metro Manila and the rest of the country will experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms due to localized thunderstorms. Flash floods or landslides may possibly result during severe thunderstorms.

PAGASA said the heat index in Metro Manila will be between extreme caution and danger level at 42 degrees Celsius at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA), Pasay City station and 40 degrees Celsius at the Science Garden in Quezon City.

The public was advised to take precaution against heat cramps, heat exhaustion and heat stroke.

The heat index is a measure of how hot it really feels when factoring in the relative humidity at a given location.

In order to prevent heat-related illnesses, the weather bureau advised the public to do the following:

  • Limit the time spent outdoors.
  • Drink plenty of water.
  • Avoid tea, coffee, soda or liquor.
  • Wear umbrellas, hats, and sleeved clothing outdoors.
  • Schedule heavy-duty activities at start or end of the day when it's cooler.

The wind speed forecast for Northern and Central Luzon is light to moderate moving in the northeast to northwest direction, and coastal waters will be slight to moderate.

The rest of the country will experience light to moderate winds moving southwestward. Coastal waters will be slight to moderate.
