Parts of NCR, 8 provinces experience heavy rains Thursday
Intense to torrential rains are being experienced in some cities in Metro Manila and eight provinces in Luzon Thursday.
In a thunderstorm advisory issued at 5:34 p.m., PAGASA said the affected areas are:
- Metro Manila (Navotas, Malabon, Manila, Caloocan)
- Pampanga (Arayat, Santa Ana, Magalang, Mabalacat, Angeles, Mexico, San Luis, Candaba, San Simon, San Fernando),
- Nueva Ecija (Cabiao, San Antonio, Gapan, San Leonardo, Jaen, San Isidro, Cabanatuan, Santa Rosa, Llanera, Rizal, Bongabon, Zaragoza),
- Tarlac (Concepcion, La Paz),
- Bulacan (Santa Maria, San Rafael, Baliuag, San Ildefonso, San Miguel, Dona Remedios Trinidad, Bustos, Angat),
- Cavite (Silang, Tagaytay),
- Laguna (Calamba, Cabuyao, Santa Rosa, Luisiana, Majayjay, Liliw, Nagcarlan, Rizal, San Pablo, Lumban, Kalayaan, Paete, Pakil, Cavinti, Pagsanjan, Santa Cruz, Magdalena),
- Batangas (Talisay, Tanauan, Santo Tomas),
- Quezon (Sampaloc, Lucban, Tayabas, Sariaya, Dolores, Candelaria, Padre Burgos, Agdangan, Lopez, Guinayangan, Tagkawayan, Macalelon, General Luna, Calauag).
PAGASA added that this may persist within two hours and affect nearby areas.
Meanwhile, moderate to heavy rains are expected over Zambales, Bataan, and Rizal in the next two hours
Residents in these areas were warned against possible flash floods and landslides.
PAGASA earlier declared the onset of the rainy season in the country.
But the state weather bureau noted that the La Niña phenomenon, which is associated with above-normal rainfall conditions, is expected at the last quarter of the year.—Vince Angelo Ferreras/AOL, GMA Integrated News
