Easterlies to bring isolated rains over Bicol, E. Visayas, Caraga, Davao

The easterlies will bring cloudy skies with isolated rain showers over the eastern sections of Southern Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao on Wednesday, PAGASA reported.

Bicol Region, Eastern Visayas, Caraga, and Davao Region will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms due to the easterlies with the possibility that flash floods or landslides occurring during severe thunderstorms.

Metro Manila and the rest of the country will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms due to localized thunderstorms with flash floods or landslides possibly occurring during severe thunderstorms.

PAGASA said the heat index in Metro Manila will be between extreme caution and danger level at 42 degrees Celsius at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA), Pasay City station and 41 degrees Celsius at the Science Garden in Quezon City.

The temperature for heat index classified as under the extreme caution level is between 33°C and 41°C while danger level is 42°C to 51°C.

The public was advised to take precaution against heat cramps, heat exhaustion and heat stroke.

The heat index is a measure of how hot it really feels when factoring in the relative humidity at a given location.

In order to prevent heat-related illnesses, the weather bureau advised the public to do the following:

  • Limit the time spent outdoors.
  • Drink plenty of water.
  • Avoid tea, coffee, soda or liquor.
  • Wear umbrellas, hats, and sleeved clothing outdoors.
  • Schedule heavy-duty activities at start or end of the day when it's cooler.

 

The wind speed forecast for Luzon is light to moderate moving in the southeast to southwest direction while coastal waters will be slight to moderate.

The rest of the country will experience light to moderate wind speed moving in the east to southeast direction while coastal waters will be slight to moderate.
