Danger level heat index seen in 28 areas on Thursday, April 24, 2024

“Danger level” heat index is expected in 28 areas on Thursday, April 24, according to PAGASA.

According to the state weather bureau’s 5 p.m. bulletin on Wednesday, the synoptic station in Tuguegarao City, Cagayan will have a 45°C heat index.

Meanwhile, a 44°C heat index is forecast to be measured by the weather stations in the following places:

  • Dagupan City, Pangasinan
  • ISU Echagye, Isabela
  • Baler (Radar, Aurora)
  • Casiguran, Aurora
  • Iba Zambales
  • Sangley Point, Cavite City


PAGASA also said the synoptic stations in the following areas will measure a 43°C heat index:

  • Bacnotan, La Union
  • Clark Airport (DMIA), Pampanga
  • CLSU Muñoz, Nueva Ecija
  • San Ildefonso, Bulacan
  • TAU Camiling, Tarlac
  • Hacienda Luisita, Tarlac City
  • Ambulong, Tanauan, Batangas
  • Alabat, Quezon
  • San Jose, Occidental Mindoro
  • Puerto Princesa City, Palawan
  • CBSUA-Pili, Camarines Sur
  • Dumangas, iloilo
  • Panglao International Airport, Cebu


The synoptic station in the following areas, meanwhile, will measure a 42°C heat index.

  • NAIA, Pasay City
  • Aparri, Cagayan
  • Cubi Pt., Subic Bay, Olongapo City
  • Coron, Palawan
  • Cuyo, Palawan
  • Legazpi City, Albay
  • Masbate City
  • Roxas City, Capiz

The state weather bureau categorizes areas with a 42°C to 51°C heat index in the "danger" category, with a risk for heat stroke.

The Office of Civil Defense (OCD) has activated its emergency response protocols in some areas in the country as the dangerous heat index poses health risks.

This move mandates all OCD regional offices to be on alert and working closely with local authorities to provide immediate assistance and ensure public safety. —VAL, GMA Integrated News
