PAGASA: Rains to persist due to trough of TS Bising, Habagat

PAGASA said rains are expected to persist due to trough of TS Bising, Habagat

Rains are expected to persist in most parts of the country due to the trough of Tropical Storm Bising (international name: Danas) and the Southwest Monsoon or Habagat, PAGASA said on Saturday afternoon.

As of 4 p.m., Bising remains outside of the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) and was last seen at 445 kilometers west of Basco, Batanes with maximum sustained winds of 85 kph and gustiness of up to 105 kph.

The trough of the Tropical Storm may bring cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms over Batanes and Babuyan Islands.

Danas is anticipated to intensify into a Severe Tropical Storm within the next 24 hours and may briefly re-enter PAR by Monday.

Meanwhile, the Southwest Monsoon may also cause occasional rains over Ilocos Region, Zambales, and Bataan, and cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms over Metro Manila, Mindanao, Cordillera Administrative Region, the rest of Cagayan Valley and Central Luzon, CALABARZON, MIMAROPA, and Western Visayas.

It will also bring partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms over Bicol Region and the rest of Visayas.

Possible flash floods or landslides may occur in some areas as a result of said weather conditions.

Moderate to strong winds with moderate to rough seas may be expected over Northern Luzon and the western sections of Central and Southern Luzon, while the rest of the country will be having light to moderate winds with slight to moderate seas.

Temperatures in the country will range from a minimum of 25.7°C to a maximum of 29.0°C over the next 24 hours.

Sunrise will be at 5:32 a.m. on Sunday morning. —VAL, GMA Integrated News
