LPA outside PAR has ‘medium’ chance of becoming storm

The low pressure area (LPA) outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility has a “medium” chance of becoming a tropical depression within the next 24 hours, PAGASA said Monday.

At 2 p.m., the LPA was observed 1,870 kilometers east northeast of extreme Northern Luzon.

For now, the Southwest Monsoon (Habagat) is expected to bring rain over several parts of the country, according to its 4 p.m. daily weather forecast.

The state weather bureau said these areas are Western Visayas, Negros Island Region, Zamboanga Peninsula, Northern Mindanao, Occidental Mindoro, Romblon, and Palawan.

These moderate to at times heavy rains may trigger flash floods and landslides.

Partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms will be observed over Metro Manila and the rest of the country, also due to the Habagat.

These severe thunderstorms may cause flash floods and landslides.

State meteorologists also said extreme Northern Luzon will see moderate wind and coastal water conditions.

Winds will be light to moderate, while coastal waters will be slight to moderate throughout the rest of the country.

Sunrise in Metro Manila will be at 5:35 a.m. on Tuesday. — Mariel Celine Serquiña/RF, GMA Integrated News
