LPA, Habagat to bring rains over parts of PH

The low pressure area (LPA) and the Southwest Monsoon (Habagat) are expected to bring rain over several areas in the country in the next 24 hours, PAGASA said Thursday afternoon.

According to its 4 p.m. daily weather forecast, the state weather bureau said the LPA will affect the weather conditions of Metro Manila, Cagayan Valley, Central Luzon, CALABARZON, and Bicol Region.

Meanwhile, its trough will bring cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms throughout the rest of Luzon.

PAGASA maintained that the LPA observed inside the Philippine Area of Responsibility has a “medium” chance of developing into a tropical depression within the next 24 hours.

At 3 p.m., it was located 435 kilometers east of Baler, Aurora.

Visayas, MIMAROPA, Zamboanga Peninsula, BARMM, Lanao del Norte, and Misamis Occidental will experience the same weather conditions due to the Habagat.

The Habagat will also bring partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms throughout the rest of Mindanao.

PAGASA warned that these weather conditions may cause flash floods or landslides.

State meteorologists also said winds will be light to moderate, while coastal waters will be slight to moderate in some parts of the country.

Sunrise in Metro Manila will be 5:43 a.m. on Friday. — Mariel Celine Serquiña/RF, GMA Integrated News
