LPA, Southwest Monsoon to bring rains over many areas
A low pressure area (LPA) located east of Camarines Norte and the Southwest Monsoon (Habagat) will bring rains over several areas, PAGASA said.
At 3 a.m., the LPA was estimated to be located at 695 km east of Daet, Camarines Norte.
"Itong low pressure area na mino-monitor natin ... ay mababa pa rin ang tsansa na maging ganap na bagyo in the next 24-48 hours," PAGASA weather specialist Veronica Torres said in an interview on Unang Balita.
(This low pressure area we are monitoring... still has a low chance of becoming a tropical depression in the next 24-28 hours.)
Bicol Region, Aurora, Bulacan, Quezon, and Rizal will have cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms due to the LPA. Moderate to heavy rains may possibly result in flash floods or landslides.
PAGASA said in its weather advisory that 50 to 100 mm of rainfall may be expected in Quezon, Camarines Norte, and Camarines Sur.
The Southwest Monsoon meanwhile is affecting the western sections of Central and Southern Luzon, Visayas, and the northern section of Mindanao.
Metro Manila, Visayas, MIMAROPA, the rest of Central Luzon, and the rest of CALABARZON may expect cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms due to the monsoon. Flash floods or landslides may occur due to moderate to heavy rains.
In its heavy rainfall outlook, PAGASA said Occidental Mindoro, Palawan, and Antique will have 50 to 100 mm of moderate to heavy rains today.
Zamboanga Peninsula, Northern Mindanao, and Caraga will experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms also due to the monsoon. During severe thunderstorms, flash floods or landslides may result.
