Danger-level heat index logged in Cavite City on April 19
Sangley Point in Cavite City, Cavite was the only area in the country that recorded a danger-level heat index on Sunday, April 19, the state weather bureau PAGASA said.
Danger-level heat index ranges from 42°C to 51°C.
Based on PAGASA’s 5-day computed heat index, Sangley Point registered 44°C on Sunday. It is also forecast to remain the lone area under danger level on Monday, with a projected heat index of 42°C.
Meanwhile, Tanay, Rizal recorded a “caution level” heat index at 31°C.
The following areas posted “not hazardous” heat index readings, or below 27°C:
- Baguio City — 25°C
- Benguet State University, La Trinidad, Benguet — 24°C
- Benguet Radar, Tuba, Benguet — 18°C
Heat index refers to how hot it actually feels to the human body by combining air temperature and relative humidity. High humidity slows the evaporation of sweat, making it harder for the body to cool down.—MCG, GMA News
