PAGASA has projected that eight areas in the country will experience a "danger level" heat index on Wednesday, April 29, 2026.According to the state weather bureau’s 5 p.m. bulletin on Tuesday, the synoptic stations in the following areas could measure a 42°C to 45°C heat index:43°C

  • Sangley Point, Cavite City

42°C

  • Tuguegarao City, Cagayan
  • Cubi Pt. Subic Bay, Olongapo City
  • TAU Camiling, Tarlac
  • Cuyo Palawan
  • Dumangas, Iloilo
  • Catarman, Northern Samar
  • Borongan, Eastern Samar

Meanwhile, the synoptic station in NAIA Pasay detected a 40°C temperature on Tuesday, according to Oscar Oida’s “24 Oras” report.A temperature of 45°C was also recorded in Pili, Camarines Sur.Last week, PAGASA issued an El Niño Alert as forecast probability rose to 709%, with a chance of developing from June to August.PAGASA earlier said the temperature in Metro Manila is expected to rise to 35°C to 39°C in April and 35.5°C to 37.6°C in May.PAGASA had explained that the heat index reflects how hot it actually feels to the human body by combining air temperature and relative humidity. When temperatures are too high, the body struggles to regulate its internal temperature, which can lead to a rise in body heat and strain on vital organs such as the heart and kidneys. If not addressed, it may result in heat exhaustion or heat stroke. The public was advised to take precautionary measures to minimize heat stress and drink plenty of water to avoid dehydration. —Mariel Celine Serquiña/LDF, GMA News
