Cloudy skies, isolated rains expected across country because of easterlies

The whole country will see partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms because of the easterlies, PAGASA said in its early Saturday morning forecast.

PAGASA warned of flash floods or landslides during severe thunderstorms.

Meanwhile, tropical cyclone Hagupit was spotted 1,165 km east of northeastern Mindanao as of 3 a.m. Saturday, carrying maximum sustained winds of 75 km/h near the center with gusts of up to 90 km/h.

Once inside the Philippine Area of Responsibility, it will be given the local name Caloy.

Hagupit was forecast to enter the PAR on Saturday afternoon or evening.

Winds will be moderate to strong, and coastal waters will be moderate to rough in extreme Northern Luzon.

Moderate winds and moderate seas are expected in the eastern section of the country, while slight to moderate winds and slight to moderate coastal waters will be experienced in the rest of the country.
