Ester to bring rains, gusty winds over Batanes — PAGASA
The Low Pressure Area (LPA) has entered the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR), named Tropical Depression Ester and forecasted to bring rains over Batanes on Friday, PAGASA reported.
At 3 a.m., the center of Tropical Depression Ester was estimated at 220 kilometers northwest of Itbayat, Batanes with maximum sustained winds of 45 kilometers per hour near the center, gustiness of up to 55 km/h and moving northeastward at the speed of 20 km/h.
Meanwhile, the southwest monsoon will bring cloudy skies, rains over parts of Northern and Central Luzon.
Forecast Weather Conditions
Batanes will have rains with gusty winds due to Tropical Depression Ester with the possibility that flash floods or landslides will occur due to moderate to heavy rains. The weather bureau also reported that there may be minimal to minor threat to life and property in the province due to strong winds.
Ilocos Region, Abra, Benguet, and Zambales will have occasional rains due to the southwest monsoon. Flash floods or landslides may occur in these areas due to moderate to heavy with at times intense rains.
Metro Manila, the rest of Cagayan Valley, the rest of Cordillera Administrative Region, Bataan, Cavite, Batangas, and Occidental Mindoro will have cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms due to the southwest monsoon. Flash floods or landslides may occur due to moderate to at times heavy rains.
The rest of the country, meanwhile, will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms due to localized thunderstorms with the possibility of flash floods or landslides occurring during severe thunderstorms.
Forecast Wind and Coastal Water Conditions
The wind speed forecast for Northern and Central Luzon is moderate to strong and moving southwestward with moderate to rough coastal waters.
The rest of the country will experience light to moderate wind speed moving in the south to southwest direction while coastal waters will be slight to moderate.
