Southwest Monsoon to bring rains over Luzon
The southwest monsoon or “habagat” continues to affect Northern and Central Luzon, bringing occasional rains, scattered thunderstorms, and cloudy skies across several areas, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said on Sunday, June 7, 2026.
In its 4 a.m. public weather forecast, PAGASA said Ilocos Norte and Ilocos Sur will experience occasional rains due to the monsoon, with moderate to heavy rainfall that may trigger flash floods and landslides.
Metro Manila, the Cordillera Administrative Region, and nearby provinces, including Pampanga, Bataan, Tarlac, Bulacan, Rizal, Cavite, Batangas, and the rest of the Ilocos Region will have cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms also brought by the Southwest Monsoon.
Moderate to at times heavy rains may likewise cause flash floods or landslides, the weather bureau warned.
The rest of the country will see partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms, which may still lead to flash floods or landslides during severe weather activity.
PAGASA also reported moderate to strong winds over Northern and Central Luzon coming from the southwest, with coastal waters ranging from moderate to rough, with wave heights between 1.2 to 2.1 meters.
Light to moderate winds from the southeast to southwest will prevail over the rest of the country, with slight to moderate seas measuring 0.6 to 1.5 meters.
In its latest observation at the PAGASA Weather Station in Science Garden, Quezon City, the maximum temperature recorded yesterday was 29.9°C at 2 p.m., while the minimum was 25.3°C at 5 a.m.
Sunrise is expected at 5:26 a.m. and sunset will be at 6:24 p.m., PAGASA said.—MCG, GMA News
