Habagat to bring rain over Luzon Tuesday; TD Haishen nearing PAR

The southwest monsoon, or Habagat, is forecast to bring rain over Luzon on Tuesday, the state weather bureau, PAGASA, said.

According to the 24-hour weather forecast issued at 4 p.m., Habagat may bring cloudy skies with scattered rain and thunderstorms over Ilocos Region, Benguet, Zambales, Bataan, and Tarlac.

The weather system is also expected to cause partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms over Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon.

The rest of the country, on the other hand, may experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms due to the localized thunderstorms.

PAGASA warned of possible flash floods or landslides during heavy rains and severe thunderstorms in the said areas.

Meanwhile, Tropical Depression Haishen is monitored outside of the Philippine Area of Responsibility as of 3 p.m.

It was last located 1,205 kilometers east of Eastern Visayas. It also has maximum sustained winds of 55 kilometers per hour near the center and gustiness of up to 70 kilometers per hour.

It is moving northwestward at 10 kilometers per hour.

PAGASA earlier said that the tropical depression will be assigned the local name Josie once it enters PAR either on Monday evening or early Tuesday, July 14. –NB, GMA News
